The End of Time

alicerackham:

Hello, everyone!

Andrew said that talking about Banned Books for an hour wasn’t in line with the “documentary” and then pointed out that I neglected to write about it in the contract, so we don’t have an episode about banned books. I am sorry. Blame Andrew.

But what I want to do INSTEAD is make THE LARGEST BANNED BOOK WEEK POST TUMBLR HAS EVER SEEN to stick it to Andrew — stick it to him good! Maybe next time he’ll believe me when I say that YOU GUYS WOULD LOVE IT. (“blahblahblah, integrity of the show, blahblahblah, you can’t just cater to your audience, blahblahblah I’m a filmmaker, I know what I’m doing”)

So let’s play a game!

What was the most meaningful banned book you ever read? Why?

If you had to ban a book, what would you ban? Why?

Do you believe that books (or TV or film or any other media) should be banned? Under what circumstances?

COMMENT BELOW because if this post gets over 100 reblogs? I’m doing a GIVEAWAY. I’ll choose one person at random to mail a copy of a book from this video!

RULES

1. You have to follow on Tumblr & be able to send your information via email so I can get you the book!

2. You have to subscribe on YouTube! This is the part that will SHOW ANDREW WHAT’S WHAT. ;) Send  ONE e-mail to classic.alice.series@gmail.com. The subject line has to be your YouTube username, message has to be your real name (the one you have on your ID). Just these two things, nothing else!

HAPPY ANSWERING <3

I don’t think books (or any other medium) should be banned. We should have the freedom to choose what we want to read and be allowed to determine what we think of them on our own.

So here is some news about my next project that I have that just went up in Publishers Marketplace! Courtney Summers’s PLEASE REMAIN CALM, an e-novella sequel to her zombie novel THIS IS NOT A TEST, about the remaining survivors from the first novel, discovering just how high the cost of death is in a post-apocalyptic landscape, to Sara Goodman at St. Martin’s, by Amy Tipton at Signature Literary Agency (World English). I think THIS IS NOT A TEST is the novel I get the most sequel requests for and I honestly don’t know what those characters did to deserve that after the hell I put them through, but I’m grateful for the expressed interest in the ones who made it out—yes, you will see familiar faces—and all the terrible things that might happen to them next.  (Things are going to get very bad.)  (MORE ZOMBIES!)  I’ll share more details when I have them.  But I am very excited and I hope you are too.  I am so glad my editor and agent didn’t blink the first time I told them I wanted to write zombies or the second time, either.BY THE WAY.  If you haven’t read THIS IS NOT A TEST, there’s no time like the present!  It’s about a girl named Sloane who intends to kill herself the morning the zombie apocalypse starts.  She ends up trapped in her high school with six other survivors instead.  Think THE WALKING DEAD meets THE BREAKFAST CLUB.  (I might be biased but I think it is a great read if are waiting on S5 of TWD.)  You can find out more about it—excerpt, reviews, book trailer—at http://courtneysummers.ca/novels/this-is-not-a-test Oh heck how about I just give away some copies right here too?  How about 3 signed copies of THIS IS NOT A TEST plus signed bookmarks to 3 winners!  This giveaway is open to entrants worldwide and to enter, all you have to do is reblog this post.  I will give one additional entry to followers of summerscourtney, too. Winners will be randomly selected and must have a way for me to contact them or new winners will be selected.  The contest will end June 30th, 2014!

There was no evidence I could do anything to change destiny, but I owed it to myself to try.

I loved looking at the stars—they put in perspective how small I was compared to the Universe. Each of those hundreds of billions of stars was its own sun. It could have its own solar system of planets orbiting around it, and some of those planets could even contain life.

The vastness of possibilities in space reminded me that while my life felt important, it was tiny in the scheme of things. Human civilization was only a blink on the radar of time.

Did anyone else have these moments of amazement over the existence of humanity, when they are in awe of how they are here, and alive, even if it’s only for a short while?

Sanctum by Sarah Fine

I feel like this series doesn’t get enough love!

The story is awesome, the characters are interesting, and the theme is dark and intriguing. Also, the main female character is very strong and determined! So, if you like Paranormal/Fantasy, this is the series for you!

BIRTHDAY GIVEAWAY!!
My birthday is nigh and I thought it would be fun to give away one of these fancy blogger boxes (designed by the amazing kayte-ghaffar) to celebrate. The branded wooden box contains three candles (soldier: siberian moss, summoner: rainwater, saint: orange chili) for those long Ravkan nights, and a sampler that includes the prologue and first three chapters of Ruin and Rising.
To win it, just reblog with hashtag #ruinandrising or tweet with the tags #ruinandrising AND #fireandfrosting.
I’ll choose the winner at random this Sunday, April 6th. Which is also (ahem) my birthday and the season premiere of Game of Thrones.
And yes, this is an international giveaway because birthday.
